COVID-19 Cases Surge in Kenya: 389 New Infections Reported

On July 9, 2020, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe addressed a press conference at Coast General Hospital in Mombasa, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kenya has reported 389 new COVID-19 cases from 3,545 samples tested in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infections to 12,062, as announced by Health CS Mutahi Kagwe on Friday.

Of the new cases, 389 are Kenyan nationals, while four are foreigners, comprising 260 males and 129 females. The youngest patient is a five-month-old infant, while the oldest is 95 years old.

Unfortunately, five more patients have lost their lives to the disease, taking the number of COVID-19 fatalities in the country to 222.

According to the latest statistics, Nairobi leads in new infections with 6,761 cases, followed by Mombasa with 1,794 cases and Kiambu with 666 cases.
