On July 17, 2020, Kenya marked a significant milestone in its fight against Covid-19 with the highest number of recoveries recorded in a single day.
According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, 570 patients were declared healed in under 24 hours, with 512 recoveries from home-based care and the rest discharged from hospitals and re-integrated into society.
Kenya reported 421 new cases, bringing the total number of cases to a significant figure.
At a press briefing in Nakuru County, Mr. Kagwe launched a strategic framework for the roll-out of primary health care countrywide, emphasizing the government's commitment to providing continuous, equitable, accessible, and quality essential health care services.
“Even in the midst of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the government continues to focus on providing continuous, equitable, accessible and quality essential health care services, which can only be attained through a robust primary health care system,” said Mr. Kagwe.
He added, “The launch of the framework and the community health policy demonstrates the government’s commitment to revitalise the Primary Health Care systems in Kenya, as a critical pillar in the realisation of universal health coverage.”
