Published on July 17, 2020, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has ordered an immediate investigation into Lancet Kenya over unclear COVID-19 test results.

Speaking in Nakuru on Thursday, CS Kagwe expressed concerns over the lab's reliability, citing instances where test results had flipped from positive to negative.

"It is true that there is one lab, specifically Lancet, that carried out these tests that eventually turned from positive to negative," he said.

CS Kagwe also highlighted a group of people in Nairobi who had undergone testing at the same lab, with similar results.

The Health CS emphasized the importance of ensuring the accuracy of COVID-19 test results, warning that labs found to be non-compliant with regulations risk closure.

"We have asked the medical board to review that particular laboratory and take necessary measures," he stated.
