On July 16, 2020, the National Assembly witnessed a lighthearted moment when Suna East MP Junet Mohammed poked fun at his Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichung'wah after his demotion to the Members Services and Facilities Committee.

Junet Mohammed, known for his wit, left the House in stitches after saying he had never doubted the capacity of the Tanga Tanga lawmaker and added that he would also do extremely well in his new committee.

Speaking during National Assembly proceedings, Junet Mohammed said, "I know he will serve well in the Members Services, the catering committee Mr Speaker. Now we are under coronavirus, there are no services being provided. But when we return back to normalcy, if the quality of my tea and mandazi goes down. I will only blame honourable Ichungwa'h. He has to take responsibility for my tea and mandazi," he said while his counterparts burst out laughing.

However, Ichung'wah did not take the ridicule lightly and he was quick to point out that the Members Service did not necessarily mean he was catering. He said he would use his time in the committee to ensure every member would be facilitated to be comfortable in the House.

Ichung'wah was moved from the National Assembly Budget and Appropriation Committee to his current committee, which is arguably a less lucrative docket. Though he welcomed his new role, he claimed the House whips were destroying the Parliamentary system by not allowing members to appoint their own committee chairpersons.
