NSE Market Turnover Rises to KSh 924 Million

On Thursday, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) witnessed a notable surge in market activity, with a total turnover of KSh 924.07 million. This marked a slight improvement from the previous day's KSh 883 million.

The top-performing stock of the day was Safaricom, which exchanged 16.68 million shares. Safaricom's share price fluctuated between KSh 26.95 and KSh 27.45, resulting in a turnover of KSh 450.43 million. The company closed the day at KSh 27.00.

Another notable mover was Kengen (KEGN), which moved 7.72 million shares at an average price of KSh 5.60. This led to a turnover of KSh 43.21 million in 50 deals. Kengen emerged as the top gainer of the day, with a 4.45% share price appreciation.

Other top gainers included Trans-Century (2.86%), Longhorn Publishers (2.74%), CIC Insurance (2.10%), and Stanbic Holdings (1.28%). Stanbic closed the day at KSh 79.00.

On the other hand, market losers of the day were Flame Tree Group and Uchumi, with 6.25% and 5.41% share depreciation, respectively. Kenya Re-Insurance shed off 4.55% of its share price value, closing at KSh 2.31, with a turnover of KSh 1.2 million.

Banking sector giants Equity Group and KCB Group moved 6.23 million and 2.09 million shares, respectively. Equity saw a turnover of KSh 213 million, closing at KSh 34.20 per share. KCB was trading between KSh 34.50 and KSh 35.60, making a turnover of KSh 73.16 million.

The NSE All Share Index gained 0.08 points to close at 131.98, while the NSE 20 shed off 7.14 points to close at 1906.43. The NSE 25 shed 2.32 points to close at 3107.19.
