On July 16, 2020, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji dropped murder charges against Omar Lali, the boyfriend of the late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai.
Lali was initially arrested and charged with murder after police and the prosecutor believed they had sufficient evidence to prove that Tecra's death was not accidental.
According to reports, Tecra fell to her demise in the bathroom of the house they shared on May 3, 2020.
She was laid to rest on May 16, 2020, in a private ceremony at the family's home in Naivasha.
Before being released, Lali was initially arrested in connection with the incident and later released on a Ksh.300,000 bond on May 28, 2020, after the expiry of a 21-day detention period.
