On July 16, 2020, the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji ordered the withdrawal of charges against Omar Lali, the main suspect in the murder case of Tecra Muigai, the heiress to the Keroche Breweries.
Tecra Muigai died in May 2020, and Lali was the prime suspect in her murder. He was arrested multiple times after he changed his story about her death, initially claiming she fell from a balcony before later saying she fell from a window.
Despite being the main suspect, Lali was released on bail after the DPP dropped the charges against him.
It is worth noting that Lali was previously accused of murdering his girlfriend Tecra Muigai in Lamu County, but he was later released on bail after the DPP dropped the charges against him.
