Safaricom Extends Free Education Bundles for Students

On July 16, 2020, Safaricom's CEO, Peter Ndegwa, announced an extension of the company's partnership with Eneza Education, Longhorn Publishers, and Viusasa to provide free education bundles to students until September 8, 2020.

Over 10 million education bundles have been redeemed to access e-learning platforms, whose content is approved by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD).

With school closures extended, learners can access education content on Shupavu Web, Viusasa E-learning, and the Longhorn E-learning portal through the Safaricom network at no data cost, up to 250MB per day.

To subscribe to the Safaricom Education Bundle, customers can dial 544# and select option 7, or use the USSD shortcode 100# and follow the prompts.

Additionally, Safaricom offers the Universities' Educational Data Pass Service, which provides university students and staff with affordable data bundles to access educational content on whitelisted E-Learning portals.

The Educational Data Pass can be accessed by dialing 54460#, and customers can opt out by dialing 123#.

It's worth noting that the Educational Data Pass can only be used to access whitelisted Universities' e-learning portals and cannot be shared or transferred to a third-party device or subscriber.
