On July 16, 2020, Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp acknowledged that his team 'have to learn' after their Premier League title hopes were dented by a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.
The defeat, which was Liverpool's third of the season, ended their chances of breaking Manchester City's record of 100 points set two seasons ago.
Despite dominating possession, Liverpool's attack was thwarted by Arsenal's resilient defense, which was marshaled by goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.
"We have to learn from it, 100 per cent," Klopp said. "We've had sloppy moments before and not been punished for it, but this is good because we have to learn from it. Credit to Arsenal for being there and using it."
Arteta's side dug deep to survive a second-half siege from Liverpool, with Martinez producing a commanding performance to preserve the lead given to them by Arsenal's generosity.
"I'm disappointed and angry about a few things, but the game was good, the attitude was good, but we took a break and that is why we lost the game," Klopp added.
