On July 16, 2020, the Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji made a significant move in the case of Omar Lali, the boyfriend of late Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai. Haji applied to terminate court proceedings against Lali, who was facing murder charges.
As a result of the DPP's application, an open inquest was requested, and Lali was subsequently discharged and set at liberty.
