Published on July 16, 2020, a debate sparked by Kiss FM co-host Jalango's advice to Kenyan women to let their men visit barbershops with female masseuses.
According to Jalango, a massage by a female barber is something many men look forward to, citing various benefits such as preventing migraines, boosting memory, and promoting hair growth.
However, Nairobi women are not convinced, with some expressing concerns about intimacy and professionalism. 'What's the big deal, it's a healing touch not a love touch unless huyo massage therapist ako na intention zake za kumu arouse,' said Fay Ceera.
Others were more direct in their criticism, with Nyakerario Irene calling the female masseuse a 'home wrecker' and questioning her intentions. 'Is it barber services she dey offer or she dey sell her body? Shame woman shaaaame,' she said.
Wakimali Ngong also expressed concerns about the potential risks of visiting a barbershop with a female masseuse, citing the dangers of open foods and un-curable diseases. Sam Gloria, on the other hand, was more puzzled by the situation, asking 'What is she massaging that I cannot massage?'
