Published on July 16, 2020, Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru's plans to implement the 2020/2021 county budget have hit a snag after the County Assembly rejected it for the second time.
The County Assembly members argued that Governor Waiguru had mutilated crucial allocations proposed by the county assembly, leading to the rejection of the budget.
During the voting process, only one ward representative supported the governor's memorandum, while another abstained from voting. The remaining six MCAs allied to the governor walked out of the County Assembly immediately the voting bell rang.
As a result, Governor Waiguru has expressed her difficulty in working with the current budget, stating that it would be very challenging to operate under the current circumstances.
She has since called upon the controller of budget, Senate, and Jubilee party to intervene in the budget stalemate, as county operations are grinding to a halt.
Elsewhere, a section of Transnzoia residents have started an initiative aimed at recalling Governor Patrick Khaemba, accusing him of graft and poor leadership.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has given the outfit a green light to enter and participate in the unfolding country's next political dispensation, urging them to engage in structured negotiations with the ruling party, Jubilee, KANU, and other like-minded parties.
