Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk Surpasses Harry Maguire in Goal-Leading Mistakes

On Wednesday, July 15, Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk had a disastrous game against Arsenal, making errors that directly cost his side.

Statistics show that Van Dijk has now made more mistakes leading to goals than Manchester United's Harry Maguire, who has come under scrutiny in recent months.

According to stats site WhoScored.com, Van Dijk was given a worse score for Wednesday night's game, as his error contributed to getting just 5.71 out of 10.

Meanwhile, Arsenal increased their chances of taking part in Europa League next season following their surprise 2-1 win over champions Liverpool on Wednesday night, July 15.

Van Dijk's mistake was one of several errors made by the Liverpool defense, including a defensive gaffe involving Alisson Becker.

The defeat was Liverpool's third of the season in the league following their 3-0 loss to Watford back in March.
