'How much I'm paid?' Jalango opens up about Kiss FM and co-host Kamene Goro

Co-host of Kiss FM's morning show, Jalango, also known as Heavy J, recently appeared on Mpasho Live with Kalondu Musyimi, where he shared the reasons behind his return to the station.

Published on July 16, 2020, Jalango revealed that he was welcomed back by the boss and his former colleagues, indicating that he did not leave Radio Africa on bad terms.

He stated, “The boss was happy to see me, I was happy to see my former colleagues and that goes to tell you that I did not leave Radio Africa badly.”

When asked about his decision to return to Kiss FM, Jalango said, “I got a lot of phone calls from other stations but I wanted to go back home, where I started.”

During his early days at Kiss FM, Jalango was paired with Kenya's radio queen, Caroline Mutoko. He reflected on the changes in the industry, saying, “Things have changed, back then there were no social media platforms, but now it has changed we are making the show about the listeners. Now we want to do you.”

Regarding his new partnership with Kamene Goro, Jalango expressed optimism, stating, “For a first week, it is looking nice it is amazing. Give us two more weeks we go out and understand each other it will be better.”

Speculation surrounding Jalango's salary at Kiss FM has been a topic of discussion, with some sources suggesting a fee of Ksh 1.2 million. However, Jalango chose to address the rumors by saying, “How much? Hata hatujafika kwa discussing salary I,m just working for now.”

He further clarified, “I’m not working for free…This is about doing something you like.”
