HELB Waives Ksh 1,000 Fee for Non-Beneficiaries

July 16, 2020

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has announced the waiver of a Ksh 1,000 fee that non-beneficiaries of student loans have been paying to obtain compliance certificates.

This decision is expected to bring relief to job seekers whose resources are already limited, as the certificate is one of the key documents required when applying for public jobs as provided for in Chapter VI on Leadership and Integrity of the Constitution.

HELB compliance certificates are often used by institutions to assess individuals in areas such as credit worthiness, social responsibility, and integrity.

According to HELB, the certificate will now be issued free of charge, signaling a significant reduction in administrative expenses.
