On July 16, 2020, Jalango, a popular Kiss FM presenter, shed light on why Tanzanian artiste Diamond Platnumz chose him as his official MC for all his Kenyan events.
During a live interview with Mpasho, Jalango shared his side of the story, stating, 'I am still Diamond's official MC. Diamond is my friend, so is his manager Babu Tale. The reason they chose me is that they always want someone who understands them.'
According to Jalango, his long-standing relationship with Diamond Platnumz and his manager, Babu Tale, played a significant role in his appointment. He explained, 'Diamond and I come from way back. Until he fires me, the contract is open. It's always turning green, meaning it's always being extended.'
Jalango's unique ability to connect with his audience has earned him a reputation as one of the highest-paid MCs in Kenya. His past achievements, including being the MC for former United States President Barack Obama's visit to Kenya, have further solidified his position in the industry.
Recalling how he landed the gig, Jalango shared an amusing story. He said, 'One morning on Hot 96, the news of Obama coming to town was all over, so I told Jeff, you know that when Obama comes to town, I will be the MC as a joke. And I went on YouTube and told people about how I will do it.'
As fate would have it, the team from Gina Din watched the video and contacted Jalango, informing him that he was indeed the chosen MC for Obama's visit. Jalango's reaction was one of surprise, as he recounted, 'You are the MC,' he was told by the team from Gina Din.
