On July 15, 2020, a 16-year-old Form 3 student was allegedly defiled by two Assistant Chiefs and a police officer in Aberdare forest, Murang'a County.

According to eyewitnesses, the trio lured the minor into a thicket and committed the heinous act. An elderly woman who saw the group enter the forest raised the alarm, prompting angry villagers to show up and apprehend one of the Assistant Chiefs.

The enraged residents beat up the Assistant Chief before police arrived and whisked him away. The two other suspects escaped through the forest.

The victim told Citizen Digital that one of the administrators had been trying to entice her with goodies in an attempt to make her give in to his advances.

Police Commander John Ngare confirmed the incident, stating that investigations have commenced. Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha condemned the act, assuring residents that he will ensure the officers are brought to book.
