Sonko Mourns Senior Government Official Killed by Covid-19

Published on July 16, 2020, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has mourned a senior government official who recently succumbed to coronavirus.

According to Sonko, the Nairobi County licensing officer Mr. Nicholas Nkamasai died three days ago due to Covid-19.

Sharing a video of the emotional moment that Nkamasai was laid to rest by Ministry of Health officials, Sonko urged Kenyans to take the pandemic seriously.

"Our licensing officer Nicholas is a Maasai who died 193 days ago was laid to rest today at 18 to learn a farm in Nairobi County," Sonko wrote.

"May the Lord rest his soul in eternal peace. We are praying for his family during this difficult moment," added the governor.

With the country witnessing soaring cases of Covid-19, Sonko emphasized that "Coronavirus is real".

As of the latest data released by the Ministry of Health, the cases currently stand at 11,252 with the highest daily increase reported on Tuesday when 497 new infections were reported.
