Nairobi Police Commander Accused of Being Robbed by Police ¶
On February 20, 2020, Zacharia Kimani Mwaura claimed that six police officers, including Inspector Samuel Kyulu, visited his home and stole KSh72,000 and two phones.
However, Mwaura denied the allegations in court on July 27, 2020, before Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga.
According to court documents, Mwaura was released on a KSh100,000 bond by Chief Magistrate Nyaga.
Inspector Kyulu was accused of instructing the officers to arrest Mwaura in connection with case OB57/20/2/2020.
However, Kyulu denied the allegations, stating that he was not involved in the incident.
The incident occurred when Inspector Philip Ndolo was out of the country on official duty, as reported by Nairobi News.
On February 24, 2020, a police officer, Koplo Esha Buya, testified that the police had recovered two phones from Mwaura's home, which were allegedly used in the crime.
Chief Magistrate Nyaga ordered Stanley Gitonga and Daniel Nyamuhanga, the officers who arrested Mwaura, to appear in court on July 27, 2020.
