On July 16, 2020, the Kenyan Embassy in Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with Saudi Airlines, successfully repatriated 174 Kenyans who had been stranded in the Kingdom since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The repatriation effort was a result of the embassy's tireless efforts to ensure the safe return of Kenyans affected by the pandemic.
According to reports, the Kenyans departed from the port city of Jeddah at 7:45am aboard a Saudi Airlines flight, with expectations of landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in the afternoon.
Earlier in April, a Kenyan had passed away in Saudi Arabia due to COVID-19, with the Kenyan ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Peter Ogego, stating that the victim had an underlying medical condition prior to the pandemic.
