For individuals with allergies, maintaining an allergen-free home can be a daunting task. However, with the right furniture and cleaning habits, it's possible to create a safe and healthy living space.

One of the most effective ways to reduce allergen exposure is to avoid carpets, which can harbor dust, pet fur, dust mites, and pollen. Instead, consider using interlocking rubber mats in children's rooms and play areas to keep the floor warm without trapping allergens.

When it comes to upholstered furniture, opt for leather or vinyl, which are easy to clean and resistant to allergens. If you must choose fabric, add slipcovers as a washable option and regularly vacuum the couch.

Beds and bedding can also be a breeding ground for allergens. Avoid upholstered beds and opt for wood or metal frames instead. Wrap mattresses and pillows in allergen-proof covers to prevent dust mites and other allergens from accumulating.

Finally, don't forget to keep your surfaces clean by using products that improve indoor air quality, such as humidifiers, air filters, and dehumidifiers.
