On July 16, 2020, Kenya confirmed 497 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections to 10,791.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were confirmed after testing 4,922 samples over the last 24 hours.
Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Mercy Mwangangi announced the new cases in a press briefing.
Of the 497 new cases, 480 are Kenyans and 17 are foreigners, with ages ranging from 2 to 81 years.
The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 292, followed by Kiambu with 62 cases.
Other counties with significant cases include Kajiado (51), Machakos (30), Mombasa (28), Busia (10), Uasin Gishu (8), Nakuru (5), and Makueni (3).
Seventy-one more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,017.
Unfortunately, 5 more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, pushing the number of fatalities to 202.
