Busia Governor Sospeter Ojamoong has been accused of graft worth Sh8 million, but he denies any wrongdoing.

On July 16, 2020, the governor took the stand to defend himself against the allegations, which were brought to light by the Nairobi Anti-Corruption Court.

According to the court, Ojamoong and other county officials have a case to answer, and they were all put on their defence.

While testifying in court, Governor Ojamoong denied claims that he conspired to defraud the county government of Sh8 million.

He told the court that he never conspired to commit an offence of economic crime and that his team never went to Germany for leisure as alleged.

"I never conspired with any of the accused persons to defraud the county government of Busia the Sh8 million," Ojamoong said.

He also queried how only three out of 12 Executive members who attended a meeting for a waste project were listed as prosecution witnesses but never testified that there was a plan to conspire to steal the said monies.

Ojamoong is expected to call four witnesses to defend himself in the four charges he is facing.
