Kenya's COVID-19 Cases Rise to 11,252

Published on July 16, 2020, Kenya has confirmed 461 new COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of infections recorded in the country to 11,252.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases were confirmed following the testing of 4,261 samples over the last 24 hours.

Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman made the announcement during a press briefing on Wednesday.

Of the 461 new cases, 432 are Kenyans and 29 foreigners, with ages ranging from 1 to 86 years.

The cases are distributed across various counties, with Nairobi recording the highest number of cases at 248, followed by Machakos with 97 cases.

So far, a total of 225,465 samples have been tested since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

Seven more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, pushing the number of fatalities recorded in the country to 209.

Additionally, 51 more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,068.
