On July 15, 2020, the government confirmed COVID-19 cases at the Ministry of ICT and the National Treasury, marking a significant development in the country's fight against the pandemic.

Health CAS Rashid Aman addressed the daily briefing at Afya House, stating that a number of workers at the Ministry of ICT and the National Treasury had contracted the novel COVID-19 infection.

While assuring the public that the occurrence should not be a cause for concern, Dr. Aman noted that state agencies, like many other institutions, are likely to report confirmed positive cases since Kenya has established community transmission of Coronavirus.

As a containment measure, the two ministries had down-sized their staff, and the government was moving swiftly to address similar occurrences in other public offices.

According to the National Treasury, up to 10 staff members had tested positive for Coronavirus, while the Ministry of ICT had not announced the number of staffers affected, but reports indicated that there may be several cases.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) also reported 10 confirmed positive cases among its staff, forcing other workers to go into self-isolation.

"In this regard, staff and interns will be required to proceed for self-isolation. During this period, access to commission offices will be restricted except where there is prior clearance," PSC Chief Executive Simon Rotich stated.
