On July 15, 2020, a coordinated hacking effort compromised the Twitter accounts of several prominent figures, including Joseph R. Biden Jr., Kanye West, Bill Gates, and Elon Musk.

The hackers, posing as the public figures, sent messages to their followers, promising to double the money of anyone who sent Bitcoin to a specific cryptocurrency wallet.

Within hours, nearly 300 people had fallen victim to the scam, sending over $100,000 to the wallet. The tweets were quickly removed, but not before the damage was done.

Twitter issued a statement, saying it was investigating the issue and working to prevent similar incidents in the future.

This is a developing story, and we will provide updates as more information becomes available.
