Arsenal Stun Liverpool with 2-1 Win at the Emirates

On July 15, Arsenal secured a surprise 2-1 win over Liverpool at the Emirates, increasing their chances of participating in the Europa League next season.

The Gunners were eager to bounce back from their derby defeat to Tottenham at the weekend.

However, Liverpool dominated the opening exchanges and took the lead in the 20th minute through Sadio Mane, who slammed home after Robertson slipped a simple ball across goal.

But Arsenal staged a dramatic comeback, with Lacazette equalising for the home side in the 32nd minute, taking advantage of a defensive gaffe involving Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

Just a minute to half time, Nelson handed Arsenal the lead as he steered a fine finish across the keeper into the bottom left.

A flurry of activity both at the restart and during the closing stages of the match saw Liverpool nearly draw level, but the hosts held on to claim maximum points.

The defeat was Liverpool's third defeat of the season in the league, following losses to Watford and Man City.

Arsenal, meanwhile, remain ninth on the league standings with 53 points, three off a Europa League place.
