On July 15, 2020, Sirisia MP John Waluke, a vocal supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, suffered a significant blow in parliament when he was ejected from all the National Assembly leadership positions.
Waluke, who was found guilty of fraud, had been serving as a member of the Committee on Implementation since 2017.
His name was conspicuously missing from the list of committee members, indicating that he had been stripped of his leadership role.
Waluke's ejection from the leadership positions comes as he faces a Ksh 727 million fine and a 67-year prison sentence if he fails to raise the fine or mount a successful appeal.
His place at the house leadership will be taken by Wajir Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi, with Kiambaa's Paul Koinange retaining his chairmanship.
Netizens had previously dismissed an appeal by Waluke's family to raise his bail, pointing out that he did not share the proceeds of his crimes.
