On July 15, 2020, a heated exchange took place in Parliament between Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichung'wah over the catering committee.

Junet Mohammed, the National Assembly Minority Whip, mocked Kimani Ichung'wah over his new role in the House as a member of the Committee of Members Services and Facilities.

Junet Mohammed stated that he would blame Kimani Ichung'wah if the quality of tea and mandazi worsened.

"I have never doubted the capacity of Hon. Ichung'wah, he is one of the best Members of Parliament in this house Mr. Speaker, having served with him now in two terms, and I know he will serve very well in Committee of Members Services and Facilities, the catering committee," Junet Mohammed said.

Junet Mohammed added, "If the quality of my tea and mandazi goes down, I will only blame Hon. Ichung'wah and nobody else."

Kimani Ichung'wah, the outspoken Kikuyu lawmaker, fired back, assuring Junet Mohammed that everything involving his committee would be appropriately facilitated.

"I want to assure you, Hon. Junet, that you are properly facilitated," Ichung'wah replied.
