The Lord Erroll Gourmet Restaurant, a popular destination for High Tea in Nairobi, has closed its doors after a prolonged period of struggle. The restaurant, owned by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, was founded in 1998 and was known for its luxurious dining experience.
According to reports, the restaurant entered a struggling phase after the COVID-19 pandemic forced it to shut down. Despite its popularity, the restaurant was unable to recover from the financial losses incurred during the pandemic.
However, the Lord Erroll Gourmet Restaurant had a successful run in the past. In 2017, it was crowned the Global Restaurant of The Year at the Global Awards ceremony in London. The restaurant also won nine awards in 2018, including being listed as one of the top global luxury restaurants in Kenya.
Lord Erroll Director, Zahra Bahlewa Moi, wife to Senator Gideon Moi, expressed her gratitude to the restaurant's team and loyal guests in 2017. She said, 'This award is dedicated to the entire team at the Lord Erroll who work tirelessly to exceed our guests' expectations as well as our loyal guests who keep us on toes, raising our bar higher and always encouraging us to be more.'
The Global Awards represent a worldwide community of the highest calibre of accommodation, restaurants, destinations, wedding specialists, and tour companies. The awards are given to individuals and organisations that meet the rigorous assessment criteria set by the in-house professionals.
Despite its closure, the Lord Erroll Gourmet Restaurant will be remembered for its luxurious dining experience and its numerous awards and accolades.
