Kenya has confirmed 461 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infections to 11,252, as of March 17, 2020.
According to a press briefing by Ministry of Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Dr. Rashid Aman, the new cases were confirmed after testing 4,261 samples over the last 24 hours.
Seven more patients have succumbed to the coronavirus disease, pushing the number of fatalities recorded in the country to 209.
51 more people have also recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 3,068.
Of the 461 new cases, 432 are Kenyans and 29 foreigners, aged between 1-86 years.
The cases are distributed as follows: Nairobi (248), Machakos (97), Kiambu (20), Kajiado (15), Migori (14), Busia (12), Nakuru (11), Laikipia (7), Nyeri (7), Kilifi (6), Lamu (4), Uasin Gishu (4), Kakamega (3), Kisii (3), Kisumu (2), Makueni (2), Mombasa (1), Bomet (1), and Taita Taveta (1).
So far, a total of 225,465 samples have been tested since the outbreak of the disease in the country.
