Kenya has reported a sharp increase in coronavirus infections, with 11,252 cases recorded by July 15.
On Wednesday, seven more patients lost their lives to COVID-19, bringing the total death toll to 209, according to Dr Rashid Aman, Chief Administrative Secretary at the Ministry of Health.
"We are saddened to announce that we have lost seven more patients to COVID-19," Dr Aman said.
He added that 461 new infections were recorded on Wednesday from 4,261 samples tested since Tuesday, with 51 patients discharged after recovering from the virus.
Since mid-March, when the virus was first detected in the country, 3,068 people have recovered from coronavirus.
Nairobi County remains the epicenter of the virus, recording 248 cases of the new infections on Wednesday, followed by Machakos County with 97 cases and Kiambu County with 20 cases.
Dr Aman emphasized the need for Kenyans to comply with containment measures to prevent the spread of the virus, as the country remains under a night curfew until August 6.
