On July 15, 2020, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) arrested two former officials of the Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) in connection with a Sh30 million scandal.
The EACC's Chief Executive Officer, Twalib Mbarak, confirmed the arrests of former KPC Chief Manager-Technical Elias Maina Karumi and former Chief Electrical Engineer Josphat Kipkoech Sirma.
They are accused of abuse of office, making a false document, and willful failure to comply with the law relating to procurement.
According to Mbarak, the EACC found that Sh30 million was paid to M/s Redline Limited using false documents, despite the fact that the items were never installed, tested, or commissioned as per the contract agreement.
