Published on July 15, 2020, a tragic incident unfolded in Toulouse, France, where Christopher Aurier, 26, was shot dead outside a nightclub in the early hours of Monday.
Christopher, the younger brother of Tottenham defender Serge Aurier, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital after being shot in the stomach.
A man, who has not been named, voluntarily went to a police station on Tuesday and confessed to being the gunman responsible for Christopher's death.
The prosecutor's office confirmed that a man was being held in custody over the death, and local reports suggest that an argument over a girlfriend may have been the motive behind the shooting.
Christopher and Serge Aurier, who is one year older, were once teammates at Lens and had promising football careers ahead of them. However, while Serge went on to play for top-tier clubs like Paris Saint-Germain and Ivory Coast before joining Tottenham in 2017, Christopher failed to establish himself in a major club and was playing for a fifth division club, Toulouse Rodeo, at the time of his death.
