Published on July 15, 2020, Nairobi is facing a severe water crisis, with residents struggling to access clean water. According to General Badi, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) is working to address the issue.

General Badi has launched a crackdown on cartels responsible for the water shortage, which has left many residents frustrated. To tackle the problem, NMS is in the process of registering all water suppliers operating in the city, ensuring they know their sources of collection and distribution points.

“NMS is in the process of registering all water suppliers that are operating knowing their sources of collection and where they distribute to so we know where they operate from,” General Badi said.

Despite the long rains that have pounded the country since last year, Nairobi still struggles to meet its water demands. The city consumes over 800,000 cubic meters daily, but only has 525,000 cubic meters available, leading to water rationing and frustration among residents.

General Badi has also taken action against developers who have been accused of grabbing public land. On Monday, he stopped construction along 3rd Parklands Avenue, where a developer was accused of grabbing public land.
