Published on July 15, 2020, Arsenal defender Ainsley Maitland-Niles is reportedly on the verge of leaving the club due to a lack of playing time under manager Mikel Arteta.

Since Arteta's arrival at the Emirates in December 2019, Maitland-Niles has struggled to secure a regular first-team spot, featuring in just four of the 12 games.

According to The Athletic, as cited by Mirror UK, the 22-year-old feels Arteta does not trust him enough to provide more game time, with Hector Bellerin preferred at right-back and Cedric Soares serving as cover.

Despite being under contract until 2023, Maitland-Niles is said to have given up hope of returning to Arteta's first-team plans and is now considering his options, with clubs in England and Germany reportedly monitoring his situation.
