On a recent weekend, Nadra music, previously known as Linda, made their debut launch at Onyx lounge and restaurant, marking a new chapter in their musical journey.
The duo, consisting of Raych and Alexis, decided to rebrand after leaving Robert Waweru's Linda Entertainment, citing a lack of transparency in finances and a work environment that stifled creativity.
Raych shared her side of the story, stating, "When we joined Wawesh we had a vision of ourselves being so far by now but along the way after signing the contract, things just started becoming hard, like really hard. We gave our all to a selfish person who just wanted to use us to get quick cash," she said.
However, Robert Waweru responded, saying, "It’s unfortunate that they see it that way. I came up with the idea for the Linda girl group, invested all the money for the project, gave them a free studio and financed the videos, music production, musicians, songwriters, they had free meals and I even paid for some of their rent. I legally own the brand Linda and its company. Their wish was for me to let it go and they tried to hijack it without my consent which I refused. It’s now behind me and I hold no grudges, may they succeed with their new venture, I wish them only love and good vibes."
After parting ways with Linda Entertainment, Raych and Alexis met Asha Mutuku of Asha's entertainment, who helped them rebrand to Nadra. They have been working together since then.
Alexis expressed her gratitude, saying, "Asha came to the studio when we were recording and was like, 'Yes! I want to work with this girls and so far so good.'"
Nadra has released their debut EP, Love Teaser, which features four tracks: Feel Fire, Caramel Thighs, Believer, and Teeramoss, a Luo phrase meaning 'take me slowly.'
The duo advised new artists to stay focused and not give up, despite the challenges they may face.
