On July 15, 2020, a tragic incident occurred in Got-Rawalo village, Gem Sub-county, Siaya, where a 50-year-old man lost his life in a brutal attack by his nephew.
The dispute, which allegedly stemmed from a land tussle, had been ongoing for some time, with the nephew, identified as Ford, pruning trees in his uncle's compound, sparking an argument between them.
According to a neighbor, the village elder intervened, attempting to resolve the dispute through arbitration. However, the suspect emerged from a maize plantation and began hacking his uncle before escaping.
Area Assistant Chief David Otieno Wasao confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased succumbed to the injuries at the crime scene.
The body was moved to the mortuary as further investigations continue, with a search ongoing for the suspect who remains at large.
