Akothee Accused of Focusing on Paying for Lady Maureen's Funeral Expenses ¶
On July 11, 2020, musician Lady Maureen passed away after battling an unnamed illness for years.
Akothee, a single mother of five, had been a close friend and supporter of Lady Maureen during her illness. Akothee had initially offered to pay for Lady Maureen's hospital bills and even called on her fans to donate blood.
However, after Lady Maureen's passing, Akothee was accused of focusing on paying for the musician's coffin, hearse, and clothes. Akothee had asked her mother to purchase a coffin and decent clothes for Lady Maureen's funeral.
According to Akothee, she had spoken to Lady Maureen's mother and promised to foot the bills for three things: Lady Maureen's coffin, the hearse, and the dress the fallen star would wear during her funeral.
However, Lady Maureen's relatives misconstrued Akothee's words and marked her actions as questionable. They claimed that Akothee already knew other people wanted to foot the bills for the coffin but she forcefully wanted to look like she alone had settled all the costs.
Akothee later came to learn about the accusations and decided to take a step back, asking anyone in doubt to speak to Lady Maureen's mother.
"I am being accused of insisting on buying Lady Maureen's coffin and that I have refused to take up more responsibilities since other artistes have already contributed towards that," Akothee said.
Despite the accusations, Akothee's actions towards Lady Maureen during her illness speak volumes about her character. Akothee had visited Lady Maureen's family regularly and even started building a house for Lady Maureen's mum.
