On July 15, 2020, a dramatic scene unfolded in Nairobi's Eastleigh estate as a group of robbers attempted to steal from a local business.
However, their plan was foiled, and a scuffle ensued between the robbers and their target. Locals, who had been watching from their shops, rushed back inside upon hearing gunshots.
Despite being outnumbered, the suspects managed to escape on a boda boda, but not before one of them fired at the crowd, injuring a man.
The victim, who was one of the onlookers, fell to the ground, bleeding profusely. He was later rushed to the hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), detectives have launched an investigation into the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
The incident comes just days after another man lost over KSh 800,000 to robbers in a broad daylight robbery in the same area.
"Detectives based at Buruburu have commenced investigations into this unfortunate incident with the aim of bringing the culprits to book," said the DCI.
