On July 15, 2020, TerryAnne Chebet's life took a dramatic turn when she lost her job at Citizen TV in 2016. The news of her dismissal came as a shock, and she revealed that it broke her down.

‘I was sure there was no way I could be retrenched,’ she stated. ‘I went straight to my room, locked it and cried. Unajua ile ya sauti ya ushago?’ she said. ‘Over 100 of us were fired but everyone’s attention was focused on me.’

Despite the setback, Chebet didn't let her circumstances define her. Instead, she chose to rise above and focus on her entrepreneurial ventures. She owns Scarlet Digital, a social media and branding firm, and Keyara Organics, a skincare company.

Keyara Organics was launched a few months before Chebet lost her job at Citizen TV. She had always been interested in entrepreneurship, having started selling mitumba clothes shortly after completing her KCSE. Chebet's journey is a testament to the power of resilience and determination.
