The Lavish Lifestyle of Kenya's Richest Pastors ¶
Kenya's charismatic Christian churches have given rise to a new breed of pastors who live in opulence and own expensive cars. While their followers struggle to make ends meet, these men of the cloth have redefined the lifestyle of modern-day Christianity.
One of the most affluent pastors in Kenya is Prophet Owuor, the founder of Ministry of Repentance and Holiness Church. He is known for his huge crusades and miracles, and has a collection of high-end fuel-guzzling cars. He also owns a Ksh 340million mansion in Runda with an underground bunker and state-of-the-art security features.
Another wealthy pastor is Bishop Allan and Kathy Kiuna, who run the Jubilee Christian Church in Nairobi with 15 Kenyan branches and five international churches. They are among Kenya's wealthiest pastors, and in November 2017, Kathy Kiuna sparked controversy when she promised her followers cars before the year ended.
"Before the end of December, you shall be driving your own car in Jesus Name!" she tweeted.
Other wealthy pastors in Kenya include Bishop David Oyedepo, who is rated by Forbes magazine as one of the richest pastors in the world with a net worth of approximately Sh14 billion. He owns an airline and a publishing house among other businesses.
Reverend Lucy Natasha is also known for her expensive lifestyle, which includes a fleet of cars worth over Sh10 million. She shares photos of her cars on social media, including a 3000cc Toyota Harrier Lexus and a Mercedes Benz E class.
These pastors have been criticized for their lavish lifestyle, which is seen as a stark contrast to the struggles of their followers. However, they argue that their wealth is a result of their hard work and dedication to their ministry.
