Published on July 15, 2020, Wilfried Zaha, a Crystal Palace player, has called for action against the racial abuse he and other Black athletes face on social media.

Recently, a 12-year-old boy was arrested after sending Zaha racist messages on Instagram, which included references to the Ku Klux Klan.

These messages were sent from a user who included the name of Aston Villa, a central England-based club, in their profile.

"People need to understand that whatever your age, your behavior and words come with consequences, and you cannot hide behind social media," Zaha said in a post on Instagram.

He emphasized that this was not an isolated incident, stating that he and other players receive such messages every day.

"It's not enough to be disgusted by these messages and move on. It isn't enough to just say #notoracism," Zaha said.
