On July 15, 2020, the Kenyan government faced a growing Covid-19 crisis in State agencies, with confirmed cases forcing the Treasury and ICT ministries to scale down operations.

According to a memo from the Principle Administrative Secretary at the National Treasury, 10 employees had tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the ministry to take measures to minimize further spread.

The memo announced that 200 people would be tested per day from July 14 to July 16, with the Ministry of Health conducting testing of all staff.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of ICT scaled down operations at its head office following the death of an employee and confirmed cases among several workers.

Just two days prior, the Public Service Commission (PSC) had announced a similar scaling down of operations, restricting access to offices and requiring staff to self-isolate for 14 days.
