Renowned Academician Maurice Wamang'oli Succumbs to Covid-19

On July 14, 2020, the academic world lost a giant when Maurice Wamang'oli, a senior lecturer at the University of Nairobi, succumbed to Covid-19 at The Nairobi Hospital.

Wamang'oli's death adds to the list of prominent individuals from Bungoma County who have fallen victim to the virus, including Engineer Maurice Namiinda, Antony Waswa, and Doreen Lugaliki.

As news of his death spread, tributes poured in from various quarters, with Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang'ula describing his passing as a 'big loss to the nation.'

Wetang'ula hailed Wamang'oli's contributions to the country, saying, 'He was resourceful. My condolences to his family and the UoN where he taught for many years.'

Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati also mourned Wamang'oli, describing him as a seasoned teacher, well-travelled scholar, and expert engineer.

Wamang'oli's legacy will be remembered through his work on several building projects in Nairobi, and his impact on the lives of his students and colleagues.
