Chelsea's Premier League campaign received a significant boost on July 14, as they secured a crucial 1-0 win over already-relegated Norwich City at Stamford Bridge.

With both Manchester United and Leicester City faltering in their Champions League charge, Chelsea needed a win to increase their chances of finishing in the top four. Frank Lampard made five changes from the side that suffered a shock defeat to Sheffield United at the weekend.

Chelsea started the match on a bright note, making a few decent crosses in the opening exchanges. However, it was not until the stroke of half-time that Olivier Giroud broke the deadlock, spinning away from Klose in the middle before thumping in a diving header from six yards.

The second half of the match did not produce any goals as Chelsea held on to sneak home a much-needed win. The Lampard-tutored side has effectively cemented their place in third with 63 points, with two fixtures remaining in the season.

Chelsea's new signing, Hakim Ziyech, was in the stands to cheer on the Stamford Bridge club, as they took a huge step towards finishing in the top four.
