As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in Kenya, the Public Service Commission (PSC) has taken drastic measures to minimize the spread of the virus within its premises.

On July 13, 2020, the PSC scaled down operations for 14 days after 10 employees tested positive for Covid-19, according to a memo issued by PSC Chief Executive Simon Rotich.

Acting Health Director-General Patrick Amoth emphasized the need for social distancing among staff, stating, "We will take measures in government institutions to ensure that we limit further spread of the virus."

Rotich's memo instructed staff and interns to proceed for self-isolation, with restricted access to commission offices except for prior clearance.

State House employees had previously tested positive for the virus, prompting President Uhuru Kenyatta to suspend physical engagements and implement a restricted access policy.

Essential staff at State House now operate from government offices in the Community area, including NHIF and NSSF buildings, while older employees work from home.

Meanwhile, Huduma Centres have announced temporary closure of some offices in Nairobi for fumigation, as the government reports the highest spike in Covid-19 cases in a single day.
