On July 7, 2020, a devastating incident occurred in the Chinese city of Anshun, Guizhou province, where a bus driver deliberately crashed his vehicle, killing 21 people and injuring 15 others.

The driver, identified as Zhang, was reportedly among those who lost their lives in the accident, which also claimed the lives of 12 students who were about to sit their college exams.

According to police reports, Zhang had been offered $10,360 (KSh 1.1 million) as compensation for his demolished rented public house but had not picked it up, prompting authorities to turn down his new accommodation request.

On the fateful day, Zhang began his shift earlier than usual after making a request to another driver. He had allegedly been angered by the demolition of his house in the morning, leaving him homeless.

Before driving the bus into a reservoir, Zhang bought baijiu, a strong Chinese alcohol, which he poured into a plastic beverage container and consumed.

As reported by CNN, "Zhang was unsatisfied with his life and with the demolition of his rented public house. In order to get noticed, he committed an extreme criminal act."
