On July 14, 2020, a middle-aged man from Kakamega County died in his private vehicle at Amalemba trading centre, located on the outskirts of Kakamega Town.
According to eyewitnesses, the man was found alive but not wearing a face mask, which led them to fear he might have succumbed to COVID-19.
‘We found him on the driver’s seat with his head tilted upward. He was still breathing. However, we couldn’t help him because he was not wearing a face mask. We feared he could have succumbed to COVID-19,’ an eyewitness told K24 Digital.
Police officers arrived at the scene over 30 minutes later, when they found the man had already died.
The deceased was identified as an Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) employee, who was in charge of organizing the annual event in Kakamega County.
The man was moved to Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue as investigations into his death commenced.
