On July 14, 2020, a significant milestone was achieved in the African film industry with the launch of Acomart's Virtual Screening Room, a platform exclusively dedicated to Afrocentric films and TV shows.

This innovative platform aims to put the spotlight on African filmmaking and provide a robust distribution network for African producers to monetize their content.

Acomart is a digital platform that promotes and accelerates the global equitable promotion of Afrocentric content. The platform boasts an impressive collection of over 15,000 hours of film and TV series content from various African countries, including Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Cameroon, and South Africa.

According to Faith Koli, Project Leader at Acomart, the absence of a robust distribution network has long been a challenge for African producers seeking to sell their content beyond their borders.

“The strength of the Acomart platform lies in its ability to accelerate and monetize content from across the continent in one place for easy access by buyers, thereby giving content producers access to new markets and stimulating demand – especially for content from under-explored territories which can now be localized for new audiences,” Koli said.

The platform's objectives include ensuring the acceleration of content development and consumption. Acomart will also be investing in the industry by launching a training and development arm, with the aim of creating a Content Production Hub where producers can receive technical training, coaching, and mentoring.
